Tea Preparation and product info

Chinese 'Tonic' herbs are composed of a group of ancient herbs deemed to be in a superior class, due to their broad-spectrum, health-enhancing qualities. Viewed by the Chinese as superfoods, the Tonic herbs have been used for centuries for longevity, adaptability, immunity and spiritual clarity.

There are only about 75 Tonic herbs in all the Chinese Pharmacoepia, they are the stars of the show, and shamanShack focuses exclusively (except our Cleanse formula) on the Tonics in our formulas

A Tonic herb must meet 3 criteria;

1. That it must have been determined through centuries' use to be completely free of side effects

2. That it must contain dual-directional, or multi-directional properties, in other words; it must have balancing actions on the body rather than heating, cooling or otherwise metabolism-altering actions. It must be an adaptogen, immune regulating, balancing the forces of yin and yang, and 'non-specific'.

3. That it must benefit more than one body organ system.

There is no better way to get your herbal therapy than to cook and drink the herbal tea fresh. And we make them taste great!

Each package of our herbs is designed to produce up to 3 gallons of tea, and drinking 2-3 cups per day, can last up to two weeks. In that time, near-miraculous benefits can be seen.

Enjoy!

Preparation of Shaman Shack's Chinese herbal tea formulas follows classic hot water decoction proceedures. It is quite simple to prepare the tea formulas, and the process of cooking can be an empowering and rewarding experience. Thie process lets you get in touch with the herbs, their spirit and intelligence. By nurturing the teas as you cook them, you become your own alchemist! Popping capsules just isnt as fun.

Begin by pouring all contents of the pack into a stainless steel, clay or glass pot and add one gallon water.

Let the herbs soak in the water for 20 minutes before beginning cooking.

Now turn stove on high heat and bring to boil.

Once boiling, reduce heat to lowest simmer, cover pot and cook one hour. Check periodically to re-adjust to lowest simmer.

Turn off heat and allow pot to cool. I like covering the pot with a towel and allowing to slowly cool over night. In the morning the tea is beautifully decocted and robust!

You may strain tea out of herbs into pitcher, drink a cup and keep in fridge. Also, keep herbs in fridge in separate container (Jar, Ziplock Bag). But I just leave the herbs soaking in the pot of tea and put the whole thing in the fridge.

Drink warm tea 2-3 times daily. Clold tea is excellent in summer.

Add sweetner if you like, or even a little nut milk. I like to stress this; Make it taste good for yourself. Dilute if necessary, but make drinking the tea a pleasant experience!

Once you have drunk all the tea, you may take herbs from the fridge, place in pot again with one gallon water and cook same as before.

You may re-cook herbs 2-3 times, totalling up to three gallons.
